Ca. 1902 Original Gypsy Wagon built by William Wright
Possibly the best original antique gypsy wagon you could find
Owned by the prestigious Lees Gypsy Family, the wealthiest in Great Britain in the 1900s.
The wagon was bought by Joanna Hearst Castro, granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, in 1984. Ms. Hearst had the wagon completely restored (1984-’86). Then, for the past 3 decades, the wagon was part of Joanna Hearst’s famous property “la Caprichosa” in Sevilla, Spain. Many crowned heads and some of the wealthiest people around the world were happy to contemplate this magnificent wagon during the well known “fiestas” at la Caprichosa that were organized around it.
After the death of Ms. Hearst at the end of 2011, and the sale of the fantastic Hearst property in Spain, Hacienda La Caprichosa, Sevilla, this legendary wagon was passed on to owners in the south of France, and the now the new owner has decided to put it on the market.
This museum piece resides currently in safe and secure storage in France and is ready to go anywhere in the world. Many interior and other photos available.
