I absolutely love anything vintage! My grandfather was the epitome of Toys for Big Boys. At different points in his life, he had a plane, yachts/boats, a huge horse farm and of course vintage cars. I remember him calling everyone to the house to show off his vintage cars. It was perhaps the coolest thing I had ever seen in my life. Even though I was only 8 years old. When I got in the back seat I was in awe of the velvet seats and the rumble seat. It amazed me that you needed to go outside and crank the car to start it. I recall my grandfather saying it was bullet proof. After about three days I could not take it any longer and asked my mom why would anyone need a bullet proof car? Her face became very sullen as she started to explain to me that the car once belonged to Adolf Hitler. Now at 8 years old I probably had heard of this evil dictator but no idea who he actually was. Well, needless to say, the car was gone the next day!
You would have thought that this would have swayed me away from liking vintage cars but, it only attracted me even more, after all, it wasn’t the cars fault that an evil man owned it! I still wonder to this day what happened to that old car.
